The product key on the bottom of the laptop is only for the Windows Vista operating system. It won’t work for the trial copy of Microsoft Office you have.
If you haven’t already started using Office, you don’t need a product key for the trial version. Just click the Continue button on the registration page.
But be warned. The trial will run out after 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days. When it does, you’ll be able to read and print your documents, but not much more.
Hope that helps.
If you are sure that it’s the product key for the version of Office included on your new computer (and not one you just “found” someplace), then you can call Microsoft support and they will help you out.
Start at this page and choose the answer that best fits you and it will direct you to the right place in Microsoft support: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=8753&st=1
Odds are that you are typing in the Windows product key and that you don’t have an Office product key (just a free trial of Office that has now expired).
