Product Description
This invaluable book reveals what really works in beauty, diet and fashion. Former model and confidante to the stars Diane Irons explains what vitamins and minerals are now taking the place of surgery, and why models carry beef jerky, jelly beans and kitty litter in their bags.Amazon.com Review
Who knew that models use hemorrhoid cream to combat eye puffiness? Diane Irons knew, that’s who. She’s a model herself and has compiled a bunch of little-known but definitely useful beauty tips. Her advice ranges from the unusual (play classical music at mealtimes and you’ll eat less; add aspirin to shampoo to combat dandruff) to the downright wacky (use mascara to touch up hair roots; use antiperspirant on your feet in summer). Hey, if it works, it works! She’s also included tons of diet tips, including 50 recipes that check in at 200 calories or less per serving, as well as lists of herbs and supplements to aid quick weight loss. With many of the tips geared toward women on the run, this book is like a Hints from Heloise for the glamour set.

This book is fabulous. I was particularly interested in the tip of using coffee grounds for cellulite control. I emailed Diane Irons office regarding a more specific application of the coffee grounds, and this is what she wrote back: “The coffee grounds should be warm when applied. Sit on the edge of your bathtub (or in your shower w/ newspaper beneath you). While you’re massaging in the grounds, most will fall to the floor. The residue is what remains, and this should be wrapped (she didn’t specify, but I assume any old plastic food wrap will do). Leave on for 5-10 minutes to detoxify and smooth. Rinse off with warm water and a loofah or vegetable brush”. I tried this, and after one session, I swear my skin felt taught the rest of the day. Brilliant! If you haven’t gotten this book yet, what are you waiting for?!? It’s the best book of beauty/diet tips I’ve seen yet.

I recently purchased this book because I am a big fan of Diane Iron’s books. All of them are filled with interesting, inexpensive, and easy-to-apply tips in diet, beauty, and fashion, and I was very pleased with “The World’s Best-Kept Beauty Secrets”. Diane compiles over 230 essential pages of tips, advice, and secrets. Besides covering beauty, this book also features hair care advice, very neat fashion tips, delicious recipies all under 200 calories, diet secrets, and much, much more. For example, you can make cleansing masks out of kitty litter and mayonnaise (yes, kitty litter and mayonnaise), that work just as well, if not better, than store-bought masks. What to do if that party information says “Formal Dress” or “City Attire”? Turn to this book to find a description of good things to wear! Also, an entire chapter is devoted to secrets of models that seem to always look perfect. Did you know that many models use toothbrushes to clean their lips?- the bristles help slough off dead skin. Or that small birthday candles can get a stuck zipper to get going again? How about washing that scorched shirt from your iron with a basin of hydrogen peroxide and mild detergent?- it will bring your shirt back to life! Find many more of these useful tips, and much more in “The World’s Best Kept Beauty Secrets”. It’s a great invesment for all women, and will help you look your best no matter what.

Though this book is undersized, it’s really huge in content. All the beauty tips and secrets Diane Irons gives the reader are easy to understand and follow. Whether you want to know how to “get the red” out of a surfacing blemish (use visine), or how to soften the skin on your elbows and knees (use a lemon), this book should be on every woman’s beauty shelf. Besides the goldmine of beauty tips and secrets, the book also has a section on food and fashion! This book is inexpensive and contains a hundred times as many tips as books costing many times more.

…save up on beauty magazine expenses and buy this book instead!
Beauty, fashion, and style, tips which you usually see in small portions in beauty magazines are sprinkled all throughout this book. “The World’s Best-Kept Beauty Secrets” compiles everything for your easy reference.
Learn what fashion models actually do to look slimmer, or to have glistening pearly whites, or to have flawless complexion. Read and try the beauty tips and recipes that can be found in this book. (Always do a skin patch test first, though to save yourself the trouble of skin irritation later on.) You can see a collection of beauty tips that range from the simple and expected to the downright unbelievable (the kitty litter facial mask, for example). As for me, I found that breaking up a caplet or two of Vit. E and squeezing its contents in my shampoo makes my hair healthier. The recipes with honey in it are also beneficial for me. And I found out that massaging coffee grounds on my body skin is indeed a surprisingly inexpensive way to make it suppler. An entire section is also devoted to simple and healthy meals that you can whip up fast, for you, or for your guests to feast on.

After rummaging through the first few pages, I knew I wasn’t leaving the bookstore without this! Want to know how supermodels attack cellulite? They rub their morning coffee grounds into their problem areas; logic being, since caffeine is the largest ingredient in expensive cellulite creams, this is an inexpensive alternative. Got a big, angry red zit right before a date? Rub some Visine on it- it gets the red out of more than your eyes. How do supermodels’ eyes look so rested and refreshed? Break out the Preperation H, my friend. The same “Shrinking of hemmoroidal tissues” can happen to puffy bags underneath your eyes, along the jawline, and on puffy cheeks. These, along with very cool fashion tips (“How to Wear Pants”, “Do’s and Don’ts of Shopping”)and wrinkle fighting tips (sleep with a satin pillow- it won’t pull your skin taught like fabric pillow, plus, you won’t wake up with bed-head hair)are tips and ideas that Irons, a former model herself, has picked up along the years. She has great and realistic tips that you can actually apply and see results from. It’s such a reasonably priced book, you can’t go wrong. I refer to it all the time.
