I have a legit Office 2k7 product key. I want to know if I can use that key on the evaluation copy from Microsoft’s site.

If your product key correspond to Office Professional 2007 (only trial version offer by Microsoft) then YES you can download the TRIAL version and your key will work.
But if you have another version like Home and Student, Standard, Small Business or Ultimate, then your product key wont work; in this case contact Microsoft they will help you to obtain the installation software.
Workaround: (assuming you have a original product key and you are reinstalling the software in the original PC/Laptop) then you can check with your friends to find who has your same office version, get the installation software and then you can install it using your own product key.
No but there is a version that will work. I just read a long discussion about another similar situation on the Microsoft website.

Suggest you contact Microsoft. If your key is genuine – they will recognise it – and should be able to provide a replacement disc.
