I am a born-again Christian, so my investigation into style ends with portraits of Jesus Christ. However, I have ambitions of opening an “old world” bistro (chain) business, so I try to keep up with our Hellenistic world (TV, cinema, politics, etc.).
We will miss YSL; he was an original. I would be interested to see a young aspiring entrepreneur make an environmentally-friendly perfume or handbag. Maybe this would return the admiration of the ancestors…
I don’t know what he means, but it sounds like he feels that modern day fashion lacks flair, imagination and creativity, and is more or less “just clothes”. Judging from the homely, ugly and retro styles I’ve seen lately, I’d have to concur with that assessment.
