How to keep neighborhood kids from jumping my fence?

I have a 6′ chain link fence around my yard, but a couple neigborhood kids continue to jump it as a shortcut to their house. Talking to their parents is not an option, since they don’t care what their kids do as long as they leave them alone. The police won’t do anything either, citing “they’re just kids” and that is the end of their investigation. How can I (legally) do something to stop this – I don’t want these kids breaking down this expensive fence. Oh BTW, they are renters but even their landlord doesn’t do anything. He just wants his rent on time.
