Hey all how old does a baby have to be to travel by air over seas. My mother in law has cancer and wants to see the baby she was suppose to come here but now she is having problems and the doctors say she shouldn’t. This poses a proble with me because I am not thrilled in having to take my newborn son to over seas. But I want her to see her grandson. What’s your advise.

There is no minimum age requirement. If the mother feels comfortable flying with a newborn infant, she can. This is providing the infant is healthy! I’ve seen infants as young as 1 week on long-haul international flights.
If it were me, I would do it. But make sure you request a bassinet! Infants do not have their own seat on flights, but you will still have to pay for an airfare (10% of certain fares) plus taxes. Depending on where you are going to be travelling to, it could cost a couple of hundred dollars.
If you are a confident traveler, you could do it on your own…but it is easier to have someone travelling with you so you don’t have to juggle baby and baggage at the same time. Feed him during take off and landing, and as much as it annoys other passengers, let him cry as it will help unblock his ears. Fortunately, travelling with a newborn is not as complicated as it sounds because they sleep so much and don’t get bored like toddlers and children do!
You can travel with the baby anytime after 7 days but it’s not very healthy to fly with a baby until a certain age…..
Try breastfeeding the baby during take off and landing to ease the pressure on the ears.. Get a bulkhead seat and ask for a baby cot in adnace. All airlines have this and they will assist you happily….Make sure you travel with someone else and not on your own.. S/He can help you out…
There is no age limit but different airlines have different rules so check before you book, I’m a flight attendant and have seen week old babies flying.
Above 2 months. That’s when their ear drums are more developed for the change in altitude when the flight takes off & land.
I’m not sure if there’s an age limit.
