I’m looking to sell my old scrap gold jewelry and things, and get the highest possible amount for them. I keep calling all these ads on TV for people that buy it, but the prices I get seem to all be way too low. How do I sell my scrap gold direct to a refiner?

Before you contact anyone work out the value of the gold so you know whether you’re getting a fair price. You can find out how to do it here: http://www.scrapgold.org.uk – just substitute the £GBP for $Dollars.
Try Specialty Metals in Fairfield Connecticut.

They will buy your gold at prices way above what a jeweler
or pawn shop will pay. The ads for gold buyers on TV are full of problems. Go to Better Business Bureau web site and look up each company. If you see problems, stay away. BBB.com
You typically have to have a lot of it to sell directly to a refinery. They just don’t have time to deal with people who want to sell an ounce at a time. They want to buy from jewelers who have collected several pounds worth of old jewelry.
You could always start a small business buying scrap jewelry from other people at discounted rates, a little at at time. Then when you have enough the refinery might be willing to talk to you.
